This body of work emerged after studying rare books of botanicals and formal gardens. Ruined fineries of another era and plants at an end of a growing period share a certain parallel. The timing of this exhibit is important as a reflection on a familiar period of growth and change.

Whitewash has literal and figurative connotations and I seek to evoke both. Within these paintings and drawings are natural elements in a variety of phases that depict both an immediate and a gradual fade. While some elements are veiled and forgotten, others come into light to be redeemed.
